Overview

This qualification provides learners with the foundational knowledge and skills to explore a range of career opportunities within the Australian energy sector. It introduces learners to key industry areas including electrotechnology, renewable energy, industrial gases, battery storage systems, heavy electrical mobile plant, and emerging areas such as automation and climate control.

The qualification involves structured project work that develops foundation, technical and communication skills, safe work practices and basic use of tools and equipment. Learners will also develop skills to use digital technologies to research energy occupations and develop a personalised career profile.

Work is performed under supervision in structured learning environments, requiring learners to exercise autonomy and limited judgement to carry out defined project and practical tasks, following established routines and safe work practices. Activities are limited to extra-low voltage (ELV) direct current (d.c.) systems.

This qualification is designed for individuals considering a career in the energy sector including secondary school students, school-to-work transition learners, and others seeking to understand career options within the Australian energy sector. Graduates will be prepared to undertake further vocational education and training or pre-apprenticeship programs within the energy sector and to make informed decisions about future training and career pathways.
